Ushiwa Wall Lights – unique creations
Uchiwa was created in 1973 by Ingo Maurer as a Japanese wall lamp. He was inspired by the art of fan production. From 1973 to 1975 he made various lamps from Japanese fans (japanese “Uchiwa”), which are traditionally made of paper and bamboo. It was the first time that an “objet trouvé” inspired his design of a lamp and was later integrated into the work. The special warm light of the lamps create a cosy atmosphere.
These examples shown here are absolute collectors’ items and the red fabric cables set beautiful accents on the wall. The lamps are operated via a toggle switch on the socket.
